France E2 Visa Duration To Be Extended From 25 Months To 4 Years

May 23, 2023 – France and the United States have reached a groundbreaking agreement on visa durations, extending the E2 visa duration from 2 years (25 months) to an impressive 4 years (48 months). 

The exciting update is shared by Christopher Weissberg, the deputy of the French of North America. During his visit to New York in April, he is confident with the negotiations between France and the United States, “I think we will reach an agreement. It would be a win-win situation.”

In August 2019, the U.S. Department of State (DOS) announced a reduction in the E2 visa duration for French nationals from 60 months (5 years) to 15 months (1 year and 3 months), effective September 26, 2019. 

On November 12, 2019, France’s E2 visa duration was again revised to 25 months (2 years and 1 month). The adjustment in E2 visa duration was made to align with the treatment given to U.S. citizens by the Government of France, as communicated by the U.S. Embassy in France at that time.

The adjustment is yet to be announced when to be implemented. But Christopher mentioned that it will take effect in the coming weeks.
